Which models for chiptuning ?

It is possible for us to reprogram Scania vehicles since 2002. From the first 4 Series equipped with a round 16 PIN diagnostic socket up to the latest Scania NTG until 2021. The very latest Scania V8 530, V8 590, V8 660 and V8 770 are not yet supported because there is no communication protocol to act on recent ECUs called EMS10. We are still researching these.

We will detail the different possibilities for a very wide range of engines below.

Stage 1 DPF SCR = Electronic modification only with the original components. Stage 1 DPF SCR Off = Removal of the DPF (remove the cartridge) and deactivation of the AdBlue system => recommended to avoid saturating the particulate filter more quickly. Stage 2 = Requires direct stainless steel line or with compulsory valves.

Available options : SCR OFF - DPF OFF - BLACK SMOKE [Black Smoke ON STAGE 2 ONLY]

S/R520 V8 DC16 116

The R520 V8 develops 520hp and 2700Nm of torque. Its compression ratio is 22: 1. The standard gearbox mounted on the 520 is identical to that of the 580. The clutch is also identical to the 580 and 650 as well as the drive shaft whether it is 4x2 or with more axles. The fuel supply is also identical to the 580 and 650 however Injectors and Turbo are different from the other two models.

S/R580 V8 DC16 117

The R580 V8 develops 580hp and 3000Nm of torque for a lower compression ratio than the R520 (20.8: 1) and identical to the 650. The gearbox is a little different from the 650 but allows a large increase in torque due to its tolerances builder. The transmission shaft, the clutch, the injectors, the turbo and the high pressure pump are identical to the 650. The possibilities for improvement are therefore wide.

S/R650 V8 DC16 118

The R650 develops 650hp and 3300Nm of torque for a compression ratio identical to the S580. Many peripherals are also identical such as injectors, pump, clutch, turbo. The box allows to cash a little more torque because it is also the one mounted on the 730 V8 which can withstand a gargantuan torque. However, there are some differences with the 730.

R730/S730 Euro 6 NTG

The 730 is a bit special because it never came out in a version without an EGR valve, and Turbo with fixed geometry. It therefore has this valve and a TGV (variable geometry Turbo), however we can clearly optimize the power. See below.

S/R730 V8 DC16 108

The R730 V8 develops 730hp and 3500Nm of torque, this being although it has been incorporated into the new NTG cabins, the 730 has not undergone a 'revival' compared to the first Euro 6 versions. It still has a variable geometry turbo while its engines below are returned to fixed geometry turbo. It still has an EGR valve with 1-phase cooling, The clutch and injectors are the same as on the 580 and 650 as well as the drive shaft. The gearbox is the same as the 650. The gains are however very interesting for chiptuning.

S/R540 DC13 166

The R540 develops 540hp and 2700Nm of torque for a compression ratio of 21: 1. It recovers all the injection and supercharging parts of its brother the 500. Only the clutch has been changed by a clutch a little more resistant although leaving that of the 500 the torque would have been largely supported. Besides, the gearbox is also identical to the 500. It should also be noted that the V8 520 and V8 580 gearboxes are also fitted as standard on the 540. (GRSO905 / R)

S/R500 DC13 165

The R500 develops 500hp and 2700Nm of torque for a compression ratio identical to the DC13 166 equipping the 540. All the other peripherals are also identical except for the clutch disc which is somewhat different but with wide tolerances in terms of torque collection of plus the gearbox of the V8 520 580 and 13L 540 is also fitted as standard on this 500. The possibilities in terms of optimizations are therefore wide on this model.

S/R450 DC13 164

The R450 develops 450hp and 2350Nm of torque for a compression ratio of 23: 1. The 410 and the 450 are also twins in almost all respects. Clutch, gearbox, injectors, turbo, HP pump, transmission shaft. We have the perfect twins. The gains are interesting especially if you have a 410, since all the main Injection / Transmission components are taken from its big brother 450.

R/P410 DC13 163

The R410 develops 410hp and 2150Nm of torque but has a larger optimization range. Being in all points identical in terms of transmission and injection as its counterpart the 450, the optimization range is very wide. By remaining completely within the standards and tolerances. (see the table of original fitted parts below). It may even be more interesting to buy a 410 than a 450.

G/P370 DC13 162

The 370 develops 370hp and 1900Nm of torque while having the same block as its two big brothers, the 410 and 450. Everything is almost identical except for the clutch disc which differs. Otherwise several gearboxes can be fitted but we generally find the GRS895R and sometimes even the 905R. The engine torque cannot be similar to the 410 and the 450. Injection level is identical. see table

Scania Chiptuning V8 EGR & VGT 520/580/730

Note that all first generation NTG V8s have the EGR valve (gas recycling), an SCR system (AdBlue), a particulate filter (FAP / DPF) as well as a TGV (variable geometry turbo). We will describe the different optimization possibilities on these engines.

520CV DC16 105

The 520CV develops 2700Nm of torque. Managed by an EMD1 type ECU, like its 3 elders, the 580 and 730 it offers a compression ratio of 17.4: 1. The 520 uses identically the peripherals of the 580 in its DC16 106 version and not DC16 117 as in phase 2. It is the twin of the 580 with a restricted software version. Same injectors, turbo, high pressure pump, injectors and pump which are also fitted on the 730 of the same generation. The power gains are significant on this engine. The 520 and 580 also have the same gearbox.

580CV DC16 106

The 580 develops 2950Nm of torque. It is managed by an EMD1 type engine control unit and like the 520 and 730 has a compression ratio of 17.4: 1. Most often equipped with a GRSO905R gearbox, the 580 is optimized in the same way as the 520 but in the end we arrive at the same results since it is the 520CV version already unbridled. The gains in torque and power after reprogramming are still very interesting and the truck remains really unrecognizable after having optimized the settings.

730CV DC16 107

The 730 develops 3500Nm of torque. It is managed like its two little brothers by an EMD1 management and also has a compression ratio of 17.4: 1. It also has the same pump and the same injectors as the two smallest in the range, on the other hand it is equipped with a gearbox accommodating a little more torque (more than 4000Nm possible). The turbo is also different from the 520CV and 580CV. It is also equipped with a variable geometry turbo and an EGR valve as well as an Adblue and FAP system like any Euro 6 vehicle.

While the NTG1 Phase 1 V8 versions have the EGR valve to bypass emissions control, the 13L versions do not. There are 4 13L engines of which we will detail the possible improvements possible.

370CV DC13 149

The 370 develops 1900Nm of torque. Managed by an EMD1 engine unit, it has elements common to the 3 other trucks. Often the mounted gearbox is the GRS905, coupled to the P500 shaft. Identical compression ratio for the 4 13L engines, however differences in the injectors and turbo which are different from the 3 others (410/450/500). The clutch is identical to that of the 410.

410CV DC13 141

The 410 develops 2150Nm of torque. Managed by the EMD1 engine ECU, it has all the elements of the 450 and 500 apart from the clutch which is the same as on the 370. Injectors, Turbo and high pressure pump are common. The gearbox fitted is generally the GRS905 coupled to the P500 shaft. The possibilities of engine reprogramming allow a good gain in torque and power

450CV DC13 148

The 450 develops 2350Nm of torque, managed by the EMD1 motor unit. Compression ratio of 18: 1. It is the twin of the 500 and has almost all the parts of the 500. Injectors, Turbo, HP pump, Clutch also identical K432 48, coupled either to a GRS895 or 905 gearbox depending on the configuration. The fact that the engine optimization on the 450 is very interesting results from the fact that the main difference with the 500 is an electronic power flange.

500CV DC13 155

The 500 develops 2550Nm of torque managed by an EMD1 computer. It is the twin of the 450 with identical engine parts. Turbo, Injectors, HP Pump, Transmission, Clutch. The standard gearbox is generally the GRS905 while on the 450 we can also find the 895. When optimizing a 500 NTG Ph1, we arrive at the same results as a 450 finally reprogrammed and optimized because only one bridle differs them.

Engines with EMS S8 ECUs

The Scania StreamLine Euro 6 V8 have engines almost identical to those of the NTG Phase 1. They all have a DPF, Adblue and EGR system. The power ranges are exactly the same as on the NTG Phase 1, only the cabin differs. They are all fitted with the XPI High Pressure injection system. Note that for the P604 drive shaft, it is not a reinforced shaft but the output shaft for 6x2 / 4 tractors

520CV DC16 101

The 520 develops 2700Nm of torque, and is managed by an EMS S8 type motor unit. As for the NTG Phase 1 the 520 and 580 are identical in terms of the transmission system and fuel supply. The 520 therefore has a large optimization range. It has FAP, EGR and AdBlue and a fixed geometry turbo.

580CV DC16 102

The 580 develops 2950Nm of torque and is managed by an EMS S8 type engine ECU. It took over the engine components of the 520 at the injection and transmission level. Optimizing a Streamline 520 or 580 ultimately comes down to the same thing, it is above all an electronic limit between the two models. EGR FAP and SCR are present as well as turbo with fixed geometry.

730CV DC16 103

The 730 develops 3500Nm of torque, it is also managed by an EMS S8 type engine ECU. However, it has differences with the 520 and 580. The main differences are found in the clutch, the gearbox and the turbo which is variable geometry on this model. The possibilities for improvement are wide, and you can easily transform your 730 into R800.

We will detail in this part the different engines present on the Streamline Euro 6, generally from 2013 to 2016. These will be 13 liter engines from 370 to 490hp. They have the XPI injection system coupled to an EMS S8 computer. There have been many versions, the first from the Euro 5 / EEV thin blocks and the newer ones.

370CV DC13 116

The 370 develops 1900Nm of torque. Managed by an EMS S8 type engine unit, it does not include many elements of the 410 except the clutch and the high pressure pump, which is also common to all 13L Streamline models. We can still properly optimize the vehicle after engine reprogramming.

410CV DC13 115

The 410 develops 2150Nm of torque. Managed by an EMS S8 engine ECU, it only has the clutch in common with the 370, the K432 62. Its twin is the 450 DC13 147, apart from the clutch which differs. They do not have an EGR valve, but all the same FAP and SCR. Injectors, Turbo and HP Pump are common with the 450 (DC13 147).

450CV DC13 147

The 450 develops 2350Nm of torque, managed by an EMS S8 engine unit. It has the same configuration as the 410 except for the clutch which allows to cash a little more torque than the 410. It also has DPF and AdBlue and is devoid of EGR valve. HP pump, injectors and turbo are common parts.

450CV DC13 124

The 450 DC13 124 also develops 2350Nm. In fact it is the counterpart of the R490 Euro 6. All the parts of the 490 are also present on the 450 DC13 124. Injectors, Turbo, HP pump, EGR system FAP SCR, Gearbox and clutch are identical and therefore allow a large power and torque gain after optimization.

The R440 Euro 6 develops 2300Nm of torque and comes from the EEV version. it is in fact completely identical to the R480 DC13 110 Euro 6. The optimization therefore allows a big gain in torque and flawless engine power. All injection and fuel supply parts are common to the R480, turbo and transmission as well. They are both fitted with a K432 48 clutch disc.

480CV DC13 110

The R480 Euro 6 develops 2500Nm of torque managed by EMS S8 box. It uses the same peripherals as the 440 both in terms of transmission, injection and fuel supply. The supercharging system is also the same as the 440 with the same turbo. The engine management is different and allows to obtain more than 440 or 480CV the rest is in itself identical.

490CV DC13 125

The 490 develops 2550Nm of torque, managed by an EMS S8 motor unit. It has the same parts mounted on the 450 DC13 124. Only the engine management program can unleash the power on this model but 450 or 490, the result will be the same in the end. Power and torque after optimization significantly improve driveability at low revs.

Details of Scania Euro 5 and EEV managed by EMS S6 / S7 engine unit. The EEV versions adopt an XPI type injection, as for the Euro 5, they use the PDE pump injector system, moreover only the V8 730 is in EEV and is not released in Euro 5. We find in Euro 5 the V8 620 , V8 560 and V8 500.

500CV DC16 19/DC16 22

The R500 develops 2500Nm of torque managed by an EMS S6 motor module. Both EEV and E5 engines are identical. The engine management is a little different to respect the values of the antipollution standards. The R500s have a good potential for engine optimization and the feeling of driving has nothing to do with it after having reprogrammed them. Clutch and gearbox are also fitted on the 560 and 620, Injectors and turbo are different.

560CV DC16 18

The R560 develops 2700Nm of torque managed by an EMS S6 engine control unit. The 560 is the counterpart of the R620. It includes almost all of the injection and transmission parts. Injectors, gearbox (GRSO905), clutch K432 26, high pressure pump as well as supercharging system identical to R620. This allows an increase in power allowing big gains at the end of the day. The 560 is especially constrained at the level of the engine electronics.

620CV DC16 17

The R620 develops 3000Nm of torque managed by an EMS S6 management system. The driving elements of the 620 are common with those of the 560. Either a reprogrammed 560 or a 620 achieves the same end result. It is only an electronic control which limits the torque and the power of the 560 engine compared to the 620. The engine reprogramming work on Scania R620 offers incomparable driving pleasure.

730CV DC16 21

The 730 develops 3500Nm of torque. We compare it here to the other V8s in the range but it already has EMS S8 management and XPI injection against a PDE for previous engines. it does not have an EGR valve. The clutch box, injectors, turbo, HP pump are different from the 3 previous models. The variable geometry turbo makes its debut with the 730 EEV. The power gains are substantial.
