How do I switch off an adblue light?
1 - Why does my Adblue indicator light up?
There are many reasons why your vehicle's adblue light comes on. They are all mainly due to a malfunction in the exhaust aftertreatment system, or at least in one of its components.
The adblue warning light often lights up in a benign way to warn you that the adblue level is low and that you need to think about refueling. In some cases, you'll see a message on the dashboard telling you how many kilometers you have to cover before you can restart your vehicle. In other, more annoying cases, it's a faulty part of the SCR system, in which case the bill can quickly mount up.
2 - Causes of the adblue light on the dashboard
As described above, there are many possible causes. In many cases, the NOx sensors are faulty, in others it's the adblue injector that doesn't inject the right quantity, the adblue pump may also be faulty, the gauge in the tank may be defective, or the exhaust gas aftertreatment control module may be out of order. Prices can range from a few hundred euros to several thousand, depending on the complexity of the system, the vehicle ect....
3 - Consequences of having the adblue indicator active
Depending on the vehicle and the standards in force, there are several possible consequences. The adblue warning light indicates (generally for cars) that the engine cannot be started within a certain number of kilometers. On trucks, farm machinery and public works vehicles, an active adblue light restricts engine torque. After a certain number of hours, the vehicle switches to Limp Mode, making it impossible to exceed 20km/h in most cases.
