Engine reprogramming Scania V8 EGR & TGV 520/580/730

All first-generation V8 NTG engines are equipped with an EGR valve (gas recirculation), SCR system (AdBlue), particulate filter (FAP/DPF) and TGV (Turbo with variable geometry). We will describe the various optimization options available for these engines.

    520CV DC16 105

The 520CV develops 2700Nm of torque. Managed by an EMD1 ECU, it offers, like its 3 predecessors the 580 and 730, a compression ratio of 17.4:1. The 520 uses the same peripherals as the 580 in its DC16 106 version, rather than DC16 117 as on phase 2. It is the twin of the 580 with a restricted software version. Same injectors, turbo, high-pressure pump, injectors and pump also fitted to the 730 of the same generation. Power gains are substantial with this engine. The 520 and 580 also have the same gearbox.

    580CV DC16 106

The 580 develops 2950Nm of torque. It is managed by an EMD1 engine ECU and, like the 520 and 730, features a 17.4:1 volumetric ratio. Usually fitted with a GRSO905R gearbox as standard, the 580 is optimized in the same way as the 520, but in the end the results are the same, since this is the 520CV version, already unbridled. The gains in torque and power after reprogramming are nonetheless very interesting, and the truck remains truly unrecognizable after optimizing the settings.

    730CV DC16 107

The 730 develops 3500Nm of torque. Like its two smaller brothers, it is managed by an EMD1 system and also boasts a compression ratio of 17.4:1. It also has the same pump and injectors as the two smaller models in the range, but is equipped with a gearbox that can handle a little more torque (over 4000Nm possible). The turbo is also different from the 520CV and 580CV. It is also equipped with a variable-geometry turbo and an EGR valve, as well as an Adblue and FAP system like all Euro 6 vehicles.
