    Vehicle version and sound

Don't forget to consult our SCANIA Euro 4 5 6 special reprogramming database.

First of all, there are several versions of the S580. The 3rd versions of Scania's 580hp V8 engines are the DC16 117 engines equipped with particulate filters and an AdBlue SCR system, but they no longer have an EGR valve, and the variable-geometry turbo has been replaced by a fixed-geometry turbo. This makes the sound of the V8 more present and allows a slight increase in torque, which is better maintained. However, if you wish to install Scania S580 exhaust valves, you will have to electronically modify some parameters so that the defects are not present.

Faults on Scania V8 with AdBlue and FAP problems: How to counter them

A problem arises when you install exhaust flaps on S580 or any other Scania 13 or 16L engine. It's the faulty exhaust system. Exhaust gases are diverted, and the first thing you'll see on the dashboard is an exhaust warning light. orange of this type. . This indicates a problem with the vehicle's emission control system.
This is normal. The anti-pollution elements constantly send and receive information on gas temperature, pressure, etc.
By diverting the exhaust gases, they no longer pass through the originally intended path, but exit directly without any post-treatment. The ECUs panic and don't understand that nothing is coming out, so they send a signal to the engine management module, which puts the vehicle in fault mode. We have the solution to counter the system, and our job is to disable the management of the DPFS and SCR (AdBlue) in the engine program, as well as in the vehicle configuration via the parameters accessible via our Scania engineering software. When the DPFS and AdBlue are removed, it is also possible to increase power considerably on DC16 117 V8 engines.

Power increase possible on Scania S580 with valves

Under normal circumstances, we switch to Stage 1 management, i.e. optimizing the engine management to suit the vehicle's needs, with a 650/660hp rating and 300/350Nm more torque. To carry out this operation, the particulate filter must be emptied or the cartridge removed so as not to saturate it. When we talk about Stage 2, we're talking about adapting new values to further improve the truck's torque and power, taking it from 580hp to 720hp and increasing torque to 3600Nm. This operation is only possible if the vehicle is equipped with a free exhaust, which allows direct evacuation of exhaust gases.
We have taken great care to consider and verify the possibility of carrying out this operation in relation to the parts common to the 650 and 730 which are installed on the vehicle, notably the injectors (which have the same part number), the clutch (K432 26) identical on the S580 S650 and S730, as well as the driveshaft (P500) and other peripherals. The gearbox is slightly different (GRSO905R) on 580, but some may have the GRSO925R, which is also fitted on 650 and 730. In any case, both support Stage 2 torque, in which case we'd get an overloaded clutch disc message, indicating that the torque is too high or that the clutch is tired.
