Removing adblue from John Deere 1170G permanently

Combating adblue problems on John Deere engines

The Phoenix Power Tech Plus 6068HTJ28 (6.8L) engine powering John Deere's 1170G harvesters complies with Tier 4F emissions standards, and is equipped with a NOx (oxides of nitrogen) emissions reduction system known as AdBlue. Tier 4F emissions standards require a significant reduction in NOx and other pollutant emissions compared with previous standards, such as Tier 2. The AdBlue system is a key element in this emissions reduction, using a chemical additive to reduce NOx emissions in engine exhaust gases. It is not legally possible to remove the AdBlue from John Deere engines permanently, however since the operation is invisibleIt's up to each and every one of us to take responsibility.

However, it is also prone to numerous breakdowns. It is possible that the AdBlue system on John Deere 1170G harvesters may be subject to performance problems or occasional breakdowns. Faulty or failed NOx sensors can be a frequent cause of these problems, as can faults in the AdBlue pump. If the AdBlue system is not working properly, this can lead to degraded engine performance and increased pollutant emissions, as well as a switch to "LIMP MODE", an emergency operating mode used to protect the engine in the event of performance problems.

    SPN codes and downgrading

SPN (Suspect Parameter Number) codes are error codes used by vehicle diagnostic systems to identify specific problems. They are generally used as part of the SAE J1939 diagnostic communication standard, which is used in heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.

Each SPN code is associated with a specific parameter or component of the vehicle, such as the engine, transmission, braking system and so on. When a problem is detected in one of these components, the diagnostic system sends an SPN code corresponding to the problem detected.

When a severity 2 or 3 SPN code is detected on the CANBus network of your John Deere harvester, the vehicle goes into a safety mode, with a considerable reduction in power and performance, which means you can no longer work in ideal conditions, and sometimes you even have to leave the vehicle in the middle of the forest because it's impossible to get out.

    Removing adblue on John Deere

The definitive elimination of adblue on your JD 1170G harvester is therefore possible by reprogramming the anti-pollution system. To do this, we need to connect to the vehicle via the manufacturer's diagnostic socket and retrieve the data from the L33 ECU, which we then rework and re-implement with new parameters. Defects are carefully eliminated, as are performance reduction modes (for emissions only).
