Scania 770 Adblue suppression and valves: Operation

Switch-mountable system

Scania 770 AdBlue suppression - Exhaust valve activation

The customer wanted to install an exhaust valve on his Scania 770 V8 DC16123, fitted with the EMS10 ECU. The aim was to achieve a freer, sportier sound. But as soon as the valve remained open for more than 15 minutes, SCR faults appeared. The engine then lost power.

To correct this problem, we carried out a complete removal of the AdBlue and SCR system. A targeted modification of the ECU made it possible to deactivate all the anti-pollution strategies responsible for the faults. The result: no more warning lights, no more torque limiting, and engine power fully restored.

Diagnosis before AdBlue suppression on Scania 770

During diagnostics, we noticed a fault as soon as the flap was left open. This behavior is easily explained. The valve diverts part of the exhaust gases. These gases no longer pass through the SCR catalytic converter. As a result, the sensors no longer detect the correct values. The ECU then assumes there is a fault and automatically reduces power.

This is not a mechanical failure, but a normal reaction of the emissions system. To avoid this blockage, we have chosen to neutralize the operation of the SCR and AdBlue via specific reprogramming.

Result after reprogramming

After intervention, the motor no longer signals any fault. The valve can remain open with no impact on performance. AdBlue injection is stopped. As a result, the blue exhaust smoke disappears. This smoke was caused by the evaporation of urea injected into the hot gases.

Scania 770 AdBlue suppression and DPFS can be deactivated on demand

It's important to remember that it's not the use of the valve that's the problem. It's the deactivation of emissions systems (AdBlue, SCR, FAP) which is still governed by law. This operation is reserved for specific contexts: export, private use, closed roads or competition.

To adapt to these different cases, we've added a discrete switch. This is connected directly to the emission control unit (ACM). The user can then activate or deactivate the modification on demand.

When the switch is activated, the emission control system operates as before. In deactivated mode, the ECU ignores SCR and FAP operation. This allows the vehicle to be operated freely, without regeneration or power cut-off.
