At Mercedes, vehicles meeting the Bluetec 5 standard are equipped with Adblue. You've heard of this famous liquid, which uses a chemical reaction to eliminate a large proportion of nitrogen oxides. The engine operation of each vehicle complying with this anti-pollution standard is managed by a Témic engine management ECU. This ECU is responsible for running the engine operating program (injection time, injection pressure, turbo pressure, ignition advance, etc.), as well as managing the exhaust gas treatment with this Adblue system.
Cause and consequences of a fault in the Mercedes SCR Bluetec 5 system
Whatever the problem you're experiencing with your Mercedes Actros, Atego, Citaro or any other model manufactured to Euro 5 standards (Bluetec 5 at Mercedes), it's possible that the gas aftertreatment system is faulty for a variety of reasons, leaving you with warning lights on the dashboard and, more serious than that, a reduction in engine torque which prevents the engine's full capacity from being exploited. In the vast majority of cases, the faults are as follows: P1950, P1951, P1952, P1953, P1956, P1957 (the most common).
We use the Mercedes diagnostic tool (as does the dealership) to identify the various reasons that display the engine light on the dashboard and/or reduce the power of your Mercedes. The various causes that can lead to Adblue faults on Mercedes Bluetec 5 are in most cases linked to one of the following defective factors. By modifying the internal software designed by Mercedes, Adblue malfunction indicator lights can be permanently eliminated.
