    Engine reprogramming Volvo FH16 D16K

    In the following, we'll show you the different possibilities for a very wide range of motors.

    Stage 1 FAP SCR = Electronic modification with original equipment only. Stage 1 FAP SCR Off = Removal of FAP (remove cartridge) and deactivation of AdBlue system => recommended to avoid saturating the particulate filter more quickly. Stage 2 = Requires direct stainless-steel line or mandatory valves.

    What improvements can be made to Volvo Trucks' 13L Euro 6 engines?

    FH420 Euro 6 - D13K

    The D13K 420 engines develop 2100Nm of torque and feature all the injection and transmission components found on the 460. Injectors, turbo, clutch and clutch disc (also fitted to the 500 and 540) and exhaust manifold are also taken from the 460. The engine management system is EMS2.3 or 2.4. The 420's potential is therefore very broad. Several gearboxes can be fitted, for relatively high torque. Volvo's FH420 engine reprogramming is one of the best compromises.

    FH460 Euro 6 - D13K

    D13K 460 engines deliver 2300Nm of torque, and as seen for the 460, components such as clutch, turbo, clutch, injectors and exhaust manifold are identical. Depending on the year, the engine management system is an EMS2.3 or 2.4. The final engine reprogramming potential of a 460 Euro 6 is in fact virtually identical to that of a 420 Euro 6. Note that, depending on the gearbox, we can optimize torque to a greater or lesser extent. Volvo FH460 engine reprogramming offers excellent driving performance.

    FH500 Euro 6 - D13K

    The D13K 500 engines develop 2500Nm of torque and are also based on the 540. As with the 420 and 460, the 500 and 540 are homologous. Injectors, turbo, management system, clutch, disc and exhaust manifold are identical. Volvo's FH500 engine reprogramming therefore delivers high torque and power.

    FH540 Euro 6 - D13K

    The D13K 540 engines develop 2600Nm of torque and use the same components as the D13K 500, so it's possible to achieve the same gains in terms of engine power and torque, since injectors, turbo, manifold, EMS management system and clutch are identical. What's more, the gearbox on a 540 must be an AT2612.

    Here's a summary of possible Volvo FH 13Litre and 16Litre gearbox combinations. These are the theoretical limits; the physical limits are well beyond those indicated. On average, they can handle 20% more than advertised, but we never go looking for the physical limits.

    Below is a table comparing engine/injection/transmission parts fitted to D13K engines. We can see that the difference between the 420/460 and 500/540 is mainly in the block itself, and that the Turbo and Injectors are also different. Clutch, DIsque and exhaust manifold are identical.
