Reprogramming Scania R580 Euro 6 & FAP
Troubleshooting FAP and Reprogramming Scania R580 Euro 6
Don't forget to consult our SCANIA Euro 4 5 6 special reprogramming database.
Engine reprogramming on Scania R580s to Euro 6 standards delivers significant improvements in torque and engine power. This is the engine version on this DC16 102 vehicle, fitted with the EGR valve and variable geometry turbo. Power on this engine rises from 580hp to 650hp, and torque is improved by around 300Nm. Acceleration is much better, with more torque available sooner, which also reduces fuel consumption by a few liters.
The R580 Euro 6 in its EGR, TGV, SCR version can also be upgraded to Stage 2 with a complete line and direct exhaust gas bypass. Power output can then climb to 700/720hp, although this is accompanied by Black Smoke.
Power restriction due to a problem with the DPF
When vehicles, especially Scania V8s, are not driven or are not driven very much (public works, inter-city transport, etc.), the particulate filter may become clogged, restricting engine power and torque. If you're carrying a heavy load, you'll hardly be able to climb hills at all, due to the truck's degraded mode. A clogged DPFS sends a message to the engine ECU, limiting engine performance. This problem can be solved by programming the truck's internal software.
Note that this operation is particularly useful if you wish to part with your vehicle and send it abroad, where the Euro standard is not in force. However, since this is a programming manipulation of the manufacturer's software, it's not detectable at the MIN, and you alone are responsible for the operation.
Total reconfiguration of torque restriction, FAP and AdBlue management parameters
When you enter degraded mode, the vehicle has no more power, so you'll be climbing hills at 20km/h, and still... Complete software reconfiguration means that road users are not endangered, as the truck will no longer enter degraded mode. It's also possible to modify many of the vehicle's internal parameters to optimize driving and fuel consumption.
Adblue consumption can be reduced to zero if you plan to use your truck in non-Euro zones, which are often areas/countries where adblue is not available. Likewise, if you want to use your vehicle in free-exhaust mode, it will be almost compulsory to use this system, especially if you are present at rallies on closed roads or tracks and want to enjoy the full sound of your V8.
