Incorrect AdBlue quality on Volvo FH460 Euro 6

Getting rid of Adblue problems for good on Volvo Euro 6 cars

Solving the problem of incorrect AdBlue quality on a Volvo can be complicated. The causes can often be multiple. When the system malfunctions, a warning message appears on the dashboard, indicating : Contact workshop: Incorrect AdBlue quality, engine torque reduction in xxx hours. In many cases, the countdown starts at 8 a.m. and runs until 1 a.m., before totally restricting the truck's performance. In addition to limited power and torque, in 90% of cases the vehicle's speed is also limited to 20km/h.

Incorrect AdBlue quality. Torque reduction in... (Volvo)

The main causes of AdBlue quality problems

The main causes of AdBlue quality problems are generally poor AdBlue flow, so that the concentration of AdBlue is not optimal, and the NOx sensors are not registering the correct values. The problem is that several elements may be at fault: the pump may not be delivering enough AdBlue, the injector may be clogged, the NOx sensor may be defective... This is why the bag can be useful, but also misleading, as it can't always diagnose the faulty element. The dealer will then make you change all the parts that may be related to the message on the dashboard, coupled with their own diag. The bill is often high: the pump alone costs more than €2400, an injector €600/800, or even more... ect, ect.

Deleting the system is definitive and avoids all these restrictions.

Suppressing Adblue on FH460s following an Adblue quality problem is therefore possible by reprogramming all the gas post-treatment parameters in the engine ECU as well as in the ACM (post-treatment module). On Volvo/Renault, the suppression is global: FAP, EGR valve and AdBlue system. Once the parameters in the EMS have been modified, the particulate filter cartridge must be removed, as regeneration problems will also be eliminated. In addition, the LIMP mode (creep mode at 20Km/h) has been permanently eliminated. To sum up, no more adblue consumption, no more clogged particulate filter problems, no more clogged EGR valve problems, and no more creep mode problems and engine torque reduction. (For other engine faults, we don't intervene on the restriction, so that you're always on the safe side in the event of other problems).
