Stage 1+ engine reprogramming on Scania S650
Why Stage 1+ on a Scania S650?
The Scania 650s have all the same engine components as the 580 phase 2 (without the EGR valve and variable-geometry turbo). The only change from the 580 is the gearbox. On the 580, the GRSO905R is fitted, while the GRSO925R is in place on the 650. For the record, this is the gearbox used on the 730, which can handle more torque.
Reprogramming a vehicle's engine involves modifying engine management parameters to optimize performance.
Reprogramming the Scania S650 in Stage 1 increases power from 650hp to 730hp and improves torque from 3300Nm to 3600Nm.
Increased engine torque and reduced fuel consumption
Increasing engine torque can have several potential benefits, including:
- Improved performance: An engine with higher torque can provide better pulling power and acceleration, which can be useful in certain situations, such as when you need to start quickly or climb a hill.
- Better towing capacity: An engine with higher torque can have better towing capacity, which can be useful if you use your vehicle to tow a trailer or another vehicle.
- Reduced fuel consumption: In some cases, an increase in engine torque can optimize the use of engine resources and reduce fuel consumption.
Switching on the AdBlue system
The EEC3 (Electronic Engine Control) module on some Scania vehicle models can be configured to activate or deactivate on demand the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system, which is used to reduce pollutant emissions in diesel engines by injecting urea into the exhaust gases. Several options are available to activate your exhaust flaps, for example.
When the system is OFF, the exhaust flaps can be used without a fault being displayed on the dashboard. This system should only be used during rallies, on closed roads, circuits or in countries where the use of adblue is not mandatory.
Speed sensor calibration
Calibration of the speed sensor allows you to obtain a few extra km/h or, on the contrary, to remove some, depending on your needs. We hope our article has helped you in your research.
