Adblue error Sany SY215C - Cummins engine fault

QSB 6.7

Erreur Adblue Sany SY215C - Definitive solution for the Hydraulic Excavator

Introduction

Users of the Sany SY215C hydraulic excavator, equipped with a Cummins QSB 6.7 engine, are regularly confronted with an AdBlue error affecting the machine's operation. These faults, linked to the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) after-treatment system, lead to reduced power, dashboard alerts and even unscheduled stops on site.

To avoid these costly interruptions, Adblue error suppression on the Sany SY215C is a reliable and sustainable solution. By reprogramming the CM2350 engine ECU, it is possible to cleanly deactivate faulty emission control components.

This procedure ensures rapid return to service, constant engine power and, above all, the definitive elimination of emission faults on the Sany SY215Cs concerned.

Fault diagnosis for AdBlue Error Sany SY215C (CM2350)

Before reprogramming or removing the AdBlue system, a precise diagnosis is required on the Sany SY215C equipped with the Cummins CM2350 engine. Many users find that, despite the replacement of sensors or the DEF module, faults persist. This situation often leads them to consider permanently disabling the SCR system, in order to avoid loss of productivity and repeated downtime.

Here are the fault codes found during our intervention:

  • 3712SCR post-treatment operator prompting - Valid data but above normal range - Most severe level
➡️ Indicates that the SCR system is operating outside tolerance. Possible causes: faulty NOx sensor or poor AdBlue injection. Risk of severe engine limitation.

  • 4677DEF tank level - Abnormal update rate
➡️ The AdBlue level sensor is not sending a reliable value. This may cause the engine to go into degraded mode or shut down.

  • 4572DEF tank temperature - Abnormal update rate
➡️ Inconsistent AdBlue tank temperature data. Risk of fluid crystallization or malfunction of injection system.

  • 3868DEF fluid quality - Abnormal update rate
➡️ Poor quality detected in AdBlue fluid. Cause: non-compliant or contaminated product, which can clog the entire SCR circuit.

  • 3714 : Motor torque reduction for protection - Existing condition
➡️ The motor protects itself following a series of unresolved emission faults. This can lead to a sudden drop in power and complete failure if left untreated.

Reprogramming process to correct errors on the Sany SY215C excavator

By reprogramming the engine ECU, AdBlue errors on the Sany SY215C excavator, which was often stuck in degraded mode, have been eliminated once and for all. At the time of our intervention, the machine was no longer responding to the gas pedal. The rev counter remained at idle, making it impossible to maneuver or use the hydraulics.

The analysis begins with a complete system diagnosis, with precise identification of active faults. The CM2350 ECU is then read to extract the engine configuration file.

Each block of data is examined, in particular those relating to the SCR, DPF and EGR systems. The fields responsible for the errors are rigorously modified. AdBlue injection is deactivated. The particulate filter is emulated to prevent regeneration.

Checksums are recalculated to ensure file consistency. Once the program has been corrected, it is re-injected into the ECU. Start-up and ramp-up tests validate the operation. The excavator then returns to normal operation, with no degraded mode or loss of power.

EGR valve deactivation on Sany SY215

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve is designed to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by reintroducing part of the exhaust gases into the intake circuit. While the principle looks good on paper, its application poses a number of problems in the field. In actual operation, the EGR valve promotes rapid fouling of the manifold, the valve itself, and sometimes even the intake. This soot deposit reduces engine efficiency, disturbs the air/fuel mixture, and can lead to misfiring, power loss and jerking.

Over time, this system becomes a source of recurring faults. A simple position sensor or blocked EGR is enough to trigger a degraded mode, or even an early engine shutdown, with direct consequences on productivity. Deactivating the EGR eliminates these sources of clogging and restores cleaner, more stable combustion. It avoids fuel-intensive self-cleaning cycles and reduces the risk of breakdowns due to gas recirculation.

By eliminating the EGR, we gain in reliability and engine responsiveness, and definitively eliminate a recognized weak point in modern anti-pollution systems.
