Reprogramming Renault K520 to 600hp FAP SCR EGR Speed Limit OffRoad Euro 6

Reprogramming Renault K520 : Special OffRoad 4×4 Rallye

In collaboration with a Renault dealership, we worked on this Renault K520, with a Volvo 13L engine, destined for rally races, notably in Morocco. Our work consisted in removing the AdBlue FAP anti-pollution device, as well as the EGR valve, then we focused on reprogramming the engine by modifying the engine operating data, thus enabling it to go up to 600hp while gaining more than 250Nm of torque.

Reprogramming Renault K520 : The suppression part of the anti-pollution device

Initially, the main thing we had to do on this vehicle was to completely remove the emission control system, with a specific aim: to avoid Limp Mode (creep mode), which can be a nuisance when racing in the dunes, since Limp Mode restricts speed to 20km/h. In addition, removing the vehicle's anti-pollution device will enable the DPFS and SCR catalytic converter to be removed from the vehicle, thus saving weight.

Adblue, FAP and electronic EGR are removed by reprogramming the ACM (Aftertreatment Control Module) and EMS (Engine Management System).

Reprogramming Power Renault K520 : Complete mapping touch-up

With the aim of improving the vehicle's racing performance, we've reworked the truck's entire engine mapping. The Volvo/Renault DTI13 engine will see its power rise from 520hp to 600hp, with a considerable increase in torque of around 250Nm. We also took the opportunity to remove the speed limiter, enabling us to exceed 140kmh with the truck. The Renault K520 reprogramming gives us better acceleration at low revs, without having to change gear too often, as well as a much higher power output than the original.

Cloning the EMS box to get a spare one

We've also cloned the vehicle's EMS unit. In other words, we've copied the data from one ECU to a new one, so that in the event of a problem with the original ECU during a race, we can continue and replace it without having to recode anything. All you have to do is put it in place and reconnect the two connectors, and the truck is ready to go.
