Our intervention on this Merlo telescopic handler equipped with an FPT engine (CNH Industrial Group) enabled our customer to regain the functionality of his handling equipment, which had been immobilized for several months, without a solution... the parts being unaffordable and moreover out of stock.
Eliminating an adblue fault on a Merlo Telescopic FPT engine therefore eliminates the degraded mode that no longer allows the machine to unfold its arm because the engine speed is too low and the machine can no longer accelerate.

The fault codes listed are related to the Adblue system (also known as Diesel Exhaust Fluid or DEF).
- 89F00 - AdBlue/DEF consumption too high :
- This means that AdBlue consumption exceeds the calculated quantity that can be injected.
- Possible causes: Adblue system leak, dosing problem, poor AdBlue quality, incorrect parameters, faulty sensors.
- BBF00 - Selective catalytic reduction operator induction after treatment :
- This is usually an induction code designed to prompt the operator to take action.
- Possible causes: the Adblue system may be seriously defective or require immediate attention.
- This fault sends an error back to the CAN network, limiting engine performance (see fault below).
- D8F00 - Motor torque limiting :
- This means that engine power is limited due to a detected problem.
- Possible causes: Adblue system failure, faulty sensors, engine malfunction.
- 9DE00 - NH3 ammonia sensor. Heating circuit. Open circuit:
- It indicates a problem in the ammonia sensor heating circuit.
- Possible causes: damaged wiring, faulty sensor.
- 99F00 - AdBlue/DEF consumption too high (repeated) :
- This code is similar to the first, indicating that excessive AdBlue consumption persists.
- Possible causes are the same as for code 89F00.
- 79F00 - AdBlue/DEF consumption too high (repeated) :
- Once again, this is a repeated code indicating excessive AdBlue consumption.

Solving emissions and power problems on a Merlo vehicle equipped with the Bosch EDC17CV41 ECU requires a sophisticated technical response. When error codes related to the emission system, such as excessive AdBlue consumption and other malfunctions, are constantly detected, it's imperative to take a proactive approach to restoring optimal operation.
The solution adopted was to flash a new management program in the engine ECU. This program has been specially designed and developed for the Merlo machine model in question. It also solves other emissions-related problems, which have a significant impact on engine operation. (EGR valve, FAP and Adblue)
When this new program is flashed in the ECU, several advantages result. Firstly, the error codes previously reported on the CanBus network cease to appear. The vehicle returns to full power, eliminating the need for limp mode operation.
