Solving a problem on Scania R580 Euro 6: Clogged DPFS

When your particulate filter is comatose, your Scania goes into degraded mode, as the soot level exceeds the authorized threshold set by the manufacturer. It is no longer possible to carry out forced regeneration with the suitcase, so engine torque is reduced. Once loaded, the truck no longer climbs hills, consumes too much fuel - in short, it is no longer usable. When exhaust gases no longer escape, this creates excess pressure in the exhaust system, and this excess pressure, if it doesn't escape, may rise in the intake and turbocharger, leading to engine failure.

How to solve the problem for good :

In order to remove the particulate filter system (when you export your truck), otherwise it's forbidden to drive with an exhaust system that doesn't comply with the Euro standard, even though it passes the technical inspection (MIN) you risk a fine, and will be solely responsible, however the electronic manipulation doesn't leave any traces. It's also necessary to remove the 2 FAP cartridges so that the gases can escape as described above and avoid overpressure.

    Function - Particle filter

Soot particles in the exhaust gases are removed by the particulate filter. Particle regeneration or oxidation converts the soot particles recovered in the particulate filter into gas, thus cleaning the filter. In addition to soot particles, ash also accumulates in the filter, so the particulate filter must be replaced and cleaned mechanically or removed. The particulate filter has a cordierite core and its active substance is platinum, or in some cases palladium. The ash consists mainly of engine oil residues. The dust that is visible and must be removed when the particulate filter is removed is mainly residue from the graphite gasket fitted to the filter.

In addition to the particulate filter, the SCR system with torque reduction as a result of a Nox fault occurs quite frequently, which is why it's also advisable if you're driving outside Europe or with free exhaust to stop the entire system running before you find yourself in total restriction and sometimes limited to 20km/h. As you can see from the picture below, we also had fault codes relating to the EGR valve on this Scania. As you can see from the picture below, we also had fault codes relating to the EGR valve on this Scania (DC16 106 engine).

Possibility of increasing power on DC16 106 to 650/660hp and +300/350Nm of torque.
