Reprogramming for big savings
Reprogramming a vehicle fitted with a Bonus engine, such as a Scania R450 reprog (DC13148), offers big savings. The DC13148 is a six-cylinder diesel engine produced by Scania and used in the NextGen range of trucks. It is designed to meet Euro 6 standards for pollutant emissions, and features SCR and DPF combustion and afterburner management technologies. It is a bridled version of the DC13155 engine, which means that it has been limited in power compared with the latter, through software programming.
Injectors, turbo, clutch, connecting rods, pistons and all engine components are identical. Both vehicles are equipped with the same part numbers. Only the gearbox, depending on the one chosen at the time of purchase, may be different, as this is an option defined by the customer (find out more about the differences on the 13L NTG here)
Debride first, then reprogram for improved performance
In order to reprogram a R450 (DC13148 engine), we proceed by electronic debriding, injecting the R500's injection maps and checking that all elements are identical using our Scania software. Going from 450hp to 500hp is therefore a relatively "simple" operation, while the engine mapping of the 500 is optimized to improve performance and bring the vehicle up to around 550hp (580hp with the SCR and DPF systems removed) if you subsequently wish to export your truck or drive abroad in countries where you are not obliged to use AdBlue.
Torque and power results after engine reprogramming
Integration of the new engine mapping increases power output from 450hp to 580hp, and improves torque by around 400Nm (depending on gearbox). Fuel consumption, meanwhile, can be reduced by a not inconsiderable 2 to 3L/100km.
